Facebook Messenger app is open to threat of phishing scam

Phishing can be easily done through Messenger once phishing scammer hacks or duplicates your close friend or relative’s account as you wouldn’t doubt the reliability of the message sent when you see a private message sending from someone you trust. 

The phishing scammer would usually send you a private message from your close friend or relative’s account saying that you were seen appearing in a video and asking you to click on the link of the video. If you click on the link and log in to a fake Facebook page using your Facebook account password, your Facebook page could be hacked as well.
