Facebook Messenger is helping to track users’ location with almost perfect accuracy

An extension for Google Chrome, “Marauders Map” has been found to be capable of tracking Facebook users’ location using the location data collected from Facebook Messenger with very high accuracy. The developer of Marauders Map builds up this extension after realising Messenger collects location data up to 5 decimal points of precision. 

Location is always being turned on by default in Messenger. Although we could opt out to it, a lot of people are not aware of this function and the consequences of turning it on.
